Andres Soto, Orchestrator


Andrés is a composer, orchestrator, and arranger born in Costa Rica and based in New York City. He has written music for more than twenty short films and one feature-length film (Mineville, featuring Paul Sorvino, William Sadler). His concert music has been performed by orchestras around the United States as well as in Prague, Czech Republic. As a collaborator with several emerging artists such as violinist Jane Hunt and songwriter Max Vernon, his music has been heard at the US Open opening ceremonies at Arthur Ashe Stadium, NYC Fashion Week, and Ars Nova Theater. Andrés was invited by the University of Costa Rica to be a guest lecturer in the X Seminary of Composition, and was the recipient of a scholarship from the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts in 2009 and 2010. In addition to being an active film composer, he recently completed work on a commission for a 14-minute orchestral work commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Heredia.
